VIDEO RECIPE: DOMINOS CHEESEBURGER PIZZA AT HOME

And it is very easy to make. My inspiration comes from growing up as part of the fast food generation. The generation that not only welcomed but embraced the fast food surge beginning in the 60s and still going strong today.

What happens when you mash up a McDonald’s Cheeseburger and put it on a pizza. Amazing things happen, that’s what happens.

All The Ingredients For Our Dominos Cheeseburger Pizza copycat recipe

INGREDIENTS YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE A CHEESEBURGER PIZZA AT HOME

  • Ground Beef
  • Pizza Dough
  • American Cheese
  • Provolone Cheese
  • Cheddar Cheese
  • Onion
  • Tomato
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard
  • Pickle Juice
  • Butter

HOW TO MAKE THIS CHEESY PIE

You can make a little cheeseburger pizza or a big cheeseburger pizza. Toss on some bacon and you’ll have an epic pizza !

When I’m making pizzas at home, I often make 2 smaller pies instead of 1 large 16 inch pie. I like to have a spicy loaded pizza and Jeannette prefers a simpler pizza with lighter toppings. So I get to load a little extra ground beef and cheese without reservation (and maybe some extra bacon too!)

CAN’T MAKE A CHEESEBURGER PIZZA WITHOUT THE BEEF

Ground beef sizzling in a pan for our cheeseburger pizza

Start with the ground beef. Brown 80-20 ground beef (½ pound)  in a pan with a grapeseed oil (1 tbsp). 80-20 ground beef has more fat and that means more beefy flavor. Break up the ground beef as it cooks. The goal is simple. Get it cooked. This will go onto our pizza cooked, not uncooked.  Add a little pinch of salt and pepper as it finishes and has lost most of its pink color. Take it off the heat and drain the beef on paper towels and set aside while we get our other pizza toppings ready.

CLASSIC CHEESEBURGER TOPPINGS

Cheeseburger pizza toppings

Grate, slice or dice white American Cheese (4 ounces) Provolone Cheese (4 ounces) and Shredded Cheddar Cheese (4 ounces).

Dice an Onion (2 tablespoons), about half of a small onion, and dice a small plum tomato (2 tablespoons).

MAKE THE PIZZA BURGER SAUCE

Making a quick burger sauce for the cheeseburger pizza

The sauce for our cheeseburger pizza is a little out of the ordinary for pizza. Substituting ketchup (¼ cup) and Yellow Mustard (2 tablespoons) for a classic San Marzano tomato sauce is quite the inspiration. The sauce is what makes the cheeseburger pizza taste like a cheeseburger. After all we are making a cheeseburger, but on a pizza.

Mix these condiments together with Pickle Juice (1 teaspoon) and the burger sauce is ready to go. After all what great burger doesn’t have its own special sauce? Perfect. Set the sauce aside while it gets happy.

Pizzaiolo At Work

Spreading the cheeseburger sauce on the pizza dough

Working quickly, start by laying out the pizza dough on a floured paddle or pizza screen.

A pizza screen works really well with this recipe. We are not looking for a crispy crunchy pizza. Definitely not a New York pizza slice. A softer slice is preferable, more in line with a buttered warm toasty hamburger bun.

Spread the sauce evenly across the dough, leaving the edge exposed. Then brush the edge of the dough with melted butter before adding the rest of our cheeseburger toppings.

And in true Throwdown Kitchen hindsight. Brush the edge of the crust with the melted butter before laying down the sauce. It’s easier!

LET’S ADD THE REST OF OUR TOPPINGS

All the toppings on our pizza dough ready for the oven

Start adding your cheeseburger pizza toppings. Ground Beef, American Cheese, Provolone Cheese and Cheddar Cheese. Starting to look and sound more like a cheeseburger to you? You bet.

Finish topping the pie with diced onions (2 tablespoons) and diced tomatoes (2 tablespoons).

This is the important part. Preheat an oven to 425 degrees,

The  pie slides into the oven  for 12 minutes at 425 degrees. 10 minutes for a softer burger like crust and 14 minutes for a crispy pizza crust.
