Today in our new Throwdown Kitchen series, we show you how to make tartar sauce for a Faidley’s crab cake. Crab cakes need Tartar Sauce! Yes, traditional Tartar sauce. Not some fancy-schmancy aioli. Just a simple easy to make seafood sauce for our fish.
Start with heavy mayonnaise and sweet pickle relish. Add in some seasoned salt. In this recipe we used Lawry’s Seasoned Salt.
Finally, a little hint of horseradish and bang! Wonderful stuff.
Faidley’s World Famous Crab Cakes
Throwdown Kitchen hails from Baltimore, Maryland and if you are a seafood lover, there is one spot that you must visit when in Charm City. Faidley’s Seafood. The atmosphere in the old Lexington Marketplace is charming and just the setting to sit and enjoy a Maryland crab cake.
The tartar sauce is amazing with the perfect creamy blend to go with just about any seafood. Faidley’s serves their crab cake with saltines on the side for a little extra Baltimore flavor.

Nutrition
The tartar sauce was easy to make. It went perfectly with our broiled crab cakes and I used the extra sauce to dip my french fries. A lot of people just like mustard with crab cakes or cocktail sauce, but I am a fan of simple seafood sauce with maybe a squeeze of lemon on top. Enjoy!
